ESD standards for electrostatic discharge, which is a sudden electric current between the charged objects.
The effects of ESD on electrical and electronic equipment, devices or systems are everywhere. It is a very high degree of harmful electromagnetic energy. To improve the level of anti-static interference can of electronic products, we must conduct ESD immunity testing. Then what is the ESD test setup?
LABORATOR CLIMATIC AND ENVIRONMENT FOR ESD TESTING
- Climate conditions should meet the atmospheric pressure range of 86kpa to 106kpa
- Ambient temperature: 15℃ to 35℃
- Relative humidity: 30% to 60%
- The electromagnetic environment should be able to ensure the normal operation of EUT equipment without affecting the test results.
ESD TEST SETUP
- Test bench (wood table)
- Horizontal coupling plane (HCP)
- Vertical coupling plane (VCP)
- Ground reference plane (GRP)
- Insulating sheet
- Grounding wires with 2*470kOhm resistors
A ground reference plane shall be provided on the floor of the lab. The EUT shall be connected to the grounding system and arranged and connected according to its installation specific cations. A distance of at least 1m shall be provided between the EUT and any metallic structure. The discharge cable of the ESD generator shall be connected to the ground reference plane.
