Overview
- Load dump is a common transient voltage phenomenon in automotive electrical systems, typically occurring when the alternator is supplying power, the battery is suddenly disconnected, or the load is suddenly removed, causing a momentary voltage spike.
- The load dump generator RV P5, RV P5b generate the pulses A and B according to ISO16750-2, ISO 7637-2 and many other automotive standards. These waveforms are used to test the tolerance and reliability of automotive electronic equipment (such as ECUs, sensors, and in-vehicle entertainment systems) under load dump conditions.
- Test A - without centralized load dump suppression
- Test B - with centralized load dump suppression
