In the actual EMC test, we found that many customers are not very clear about what standards their products need to use for testing when conducting domestic and international certifications. Here we specially list some common product categories and the corresponding typical products, and list some EMC testing standards that may be used for these common product categories.
1. Lighting electrical equipment
The commonly used EMC testing standard for lighting electrical equipment in China is GB17743, which corresponds to the international EMC standard CISPR15.
Embedded, fixed, and movable fixtures with a power supply voltage not lower than 36V and not exceeding 1000V, ballasts with a power supply voltage not exceeding 1000V, and AC electronic ballasts for tubular fluorescent lamps. The popular LED lights in the market can also perform EMC testing according to this standard.
2. Household or similar equipment
The EMC testing standards used for household (or similar) equipment in China are GB4343, GB17625.1&2, and the corresponding international EMC standards are CISPR14-1&2, IEC61000-3-2&3.
Household equipment mainly includes the following typical devices:
- Household refrigerators and food freezers
- Electric fans (single-phase AC and DC household and similar use electric fans)
- Air conditioners
- Household electric washing machines
- Microwave oven
- Electric motor compressors
- Electric water heaters
- Indoor heaters
- Vacuum cleaners
- Skin or hair care appliances
- Electric ironing buckets
- Induction cookers
- Electric ovens
- Electric food processing appliances

- Liquid heater and hot and cold-water machine
3. Audio and video equipment
EMC testing standards for audio and video equipment used in China are GB13837, GB17625.1, GB13836, and the corresponding EMC international standards are CISPR13 & 20, IEC61000-3-2 and IEC60728-2 / FDIS.
Audio and video equipment mainly includes:
- Speakers, audio power amplifier, tuner, Radios of the various radio segments
- The combination of audio and video recording, playback, processing equipment (including all kinds of CD tape and other carrier forms) and the above equipment
- Power adapter for audio and video equipment, Color TV receivers for various imaging modalities
- Monitor (excluding automotive TV receivers)
- Black and white TV receiver and other monochrome TV receivers, Image (display) tube, video recorders, Satellite TV broadcast receiver, electronic organ, antenna amplifier, Cable distribution system equipment and components for sound and television signals.
4. Information technology equipment
EMC testing standards for audio and video equipment used in China are GB9254 and GB17625.1&2, and the corresponding EMC international standards are: CISPR22 and IEC61000-3-2 & 3.
Information technology equipment mainly includes:
- Microcomputer, portable computer, and computer display equipment
- Computer printing equipment, multi-purpose printing copier, scanner
- Computer built-in power and power adapter, charger computer games, learning, copier, server, financial and trade settlement electronic equipment.
